Masarat Foundation Celebrates Graduation of First “Literacy & Skills” Cohort

Masarat Foundation celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of its “Literacy & Skills” program, an initiative designed to support women’s empowerment through education and vocational training. The program graduated 26 women from the Saadia Center after they successfully completed training in basic literacy as well as practical professional skills.

The graduation ceremony was attended by local officials and community leaders, including Nadia al-Fakhri, Director of the Executive Unit for Displaced Persons Camps in Hadramaut, Hadi Hayazaa, Director of the Literacy and Adult Education Office, and Saadia Thawab, Director of the Saadia Center. Both praised the role of Masarat Foundation in supporting women’s education and creating opportunities for economic and social empowerment.

In addition to literacy education, participants received hands-on training in traditional crafts, including incense and perfume making — a deeply rooted cultural practice in the region that also represents an important pillar of the local economy. Through this training, the program aims to help women gain practical skills that can support small businesses and create new sources of income for their families.

During the event, Qhada Al-Qaz, local coordinator of Masarat Foundation, emphasized that this graduation marks the beginning of a broader long-term initiative. The foundation is currently working with regional education and literacy offices to launch advanced follow-up training programs in August in order to expand the project’s impact and reach more women in the community.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of graduation certificates to the students, along with recognition awards presented to trainers, the Saadia Center administration, and the Literacy Office for their contributions to the success of the program.
