For more than ten years, Salim and Gisela have run Ordenadoreslowcost, a computer store in Madrid specializing in new and refurbished computers. Throughout this time, they have consistently dedicated part of their inventory to charitable causes.
Their generosity has benefited many individuals, particularly newly arrived immigrants who required access to computers to prepare résumés and complete employment and residency documentation.
After learning about the needs of Masarat Foundation’s literacy school in Seiyun, Yemen, they generously donated ten laptop computers to support the program. This contribution will enable our students not only to continue developing essential literacy skills but also to gain valuable digital competencies that are increasingly indispensable in today’s world.
The donation aims to provide women with practical digital skills that can support small businesses, improve employment opportunities, and contribute to generating new sources of income for their families.
During the presentation of the laptops, Salim and Gisela shared the guiding principle that inspires their work: “Those who do not live to serve are not fit to live.” They also expressed their hope that “this cycle of generosity will continue, and that one day the women who study at this school, after completing their education and beginning their professional lives, will in turn be able to give something of themselves to others.”
Masarat Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to Salim, Gisela, and Ordenadoreslowcost for their generous support. Their contribution reflects the transformative power of solidarity and demonstrates how access to technology can expand educational opportunities and foster long-term community development.
